The newspaper that I have selected for my blog is CBC News.
Which aspects of your paper would you highlight?
The aspects of my paper that I would highlight would definitely be those of which I consider most important-the main page, which contains the lead stories and "breaking news", as well as the opinion page, also labelled as "Your Voice". I believe that readers enjoy having their opinions published in the online newspaper (or any newspaper, for that matter), as it makes them feel as though what they say does, in fact, matter.
Which aspects of your paper would you leave out of the advertisement campaign?
The aspects of my paper that I would leave out of the advertisement campaign would be those of lesser importance (i.e. weather) The weather, of course, is an important page; however, I do not believe that it would be necessary to advertise the weather during the campaign.
What demographic would you target-any one in particular, or would you try to appeal to a broad audience?
Instead of focusing on one particular group of individuals, I believe that I would try to appeal to a broad audience. I would attempt to create an interesting campaign in which a wide variety of readers would become drawn to.
How would you advertise your paper?
I would advertise my paper extremely well. I would converse with the creators of various webpages and ask permission to create a link on their page. I would also create colorful flyers and post them around town (in stores, activity centres, etc.), ensuring that they caught people's attention. Besides this, I would also attempt to advertise our paper on television, which could potentially draw a lot of attention to our paper.
What goals would you set for yourself as an advertiser?
I would set many goals for myself as an advertiser. Most importantly would be to determine the amount of new readers that I could recruit in order to label my campaign a "success". I would estimate that anywhere between 500 and 1500 new readers would definitely aid in making a campaign successful.

Internet Vs Newspaper
Which appeals to you most as a reader? Why?
I rather read of the Internet because it is easier to find what you are looking for.
Which method is more effective in delivering news?
The Internet because you can watch videos, looking at more than one picture and read the article at the same time.
What problems might an online newspaper face in terms of attracting readers?
There are some people that can't use an Internet, some people don't have a computer or Internet.
What steps would you take to improve either newspaper?
I am not sure how to improve the newspaper. Is there anything we can do to improve it?
What is each paper’s strongest attribute?
For the paper it is just for one place and you know where the news is taken place.
The Internet everything is easy to find.
How dominate is advertising in both versions?
The Internet because it has moving advertisement and I don't know why but moving advertisements sell more.

The Reading Level of Newspapers
I believe that the reading level of newspapers are low but it is so everyone is able to read it. If they only used a high reading level then read they would lose all of the people that can't read very well, which is a lot of people if you really think about it.
Crash kills senior
This article was written is simpler words but it got right to the point and almost everyone would be able to figger it out.

Are Newspapers Dying?
What is your experience with newspapers?
I have almost to none experience with newspapers. The only time I ever read a news paper is for school.
How often (if ever) do you read them?
I never read them
Where do you get your news? (local, provincial or national newspapers/television news broadcasts/internet news sources)
Television news broadcasts and internet news sources.
Do you agree with the assertion that newspapers need to focus on local news stories in order to survive?
Yes and no because most people want to know what is going on around where they live, but we also want to know some stuff that is going on around the world. But we would like the news to be mostly be based on the thing that happen around here.
What other strategies do you feel may benefit newspapers?
I am not quit sure what can help them at this point and i don't think anything can.
Can newspapers even be saved, or do you feel that this isn’t something for newspapers to be concerned about? (aka, do you feel that the newspaper industry is not in danger).
No i believe that in about 15 to 20 years that the sales are going to go down and then soon after they are going to go compleatly out of style because everyone can get there news on the internet and they dont have to pay every time they want to see the news.
Do you think the Internet will become the main source of news and even a focus on local news will not save newspapers? Why or why not?
Yes because one you dont have to go out to get it, two you dont have to pay so much money to see it, three its easy.
Finally, where do you see the state of newspapers in 25 years?
In about 25 years i can see them being gone or close to it.

Aren't Pyramids Supose to go Up?????
- I agree with the first because I believe that if you put all the important information at the beginning then I believe that the reader would lose interest in the article.
- When I read an article I would like the information spred out so it is in a storytelling quality.
- I don't think that it sometimes bepends on the tipe of article because what ever you are writing you would like to keep your readers interest in the whole article.
- I don't agree with this way of writing. This pyramid goes down; so i agree with that part, I give it a thumbs down. And aren't pyramid supose to go up?

journal #7 Barbara Frum
She has a great intervewing style during the whole intervew she had trubble with the person she was intervewing. The person was very rood and never stayed on topic or would never answer the question Frum asked her. Frum did a very good job of keeping her cool, she tryed to keep the woman on track and tryed to get an answer out of her. But one time during the intervew she started to be sarcastic and said that she was a man but that was about it.
If she didnt keep her cool I believe that the woman would have yelled at her more and hang up sooner or she might have been more cooperative and answered the questions, you never know with that woman she was quite difficult to start with so if she was more aggressive the woman might have become more and more difficult.
The question "how do you feel" is a popular question and it is also easy to answer but for some reason the woman did not want to answer that simple question. She keep changing the subject and start talking about trees.
As a student Journalist I could learn a lot for that interiew. She kept calm when she was yelled at, she kept trying to keep the woman on track, and she also tryed to get a strate answer out of her.
I would like to do it as a video because as a video you get to see how the person reacted to each question, if it was writen you cant see how the person reacted and if it was writen some things might have been left out.
click here to see the interivew.

Journal #5
Have you ever considered that the news you read (or watch or hear) may be wrong or even fabricated? What is your reaction to the articles? Were you surprised to find out that professional journalists fabricated news?
Yes, I do. I never usually believe anything unless I have proof or if I hear it on the news or someting like that. If i hear something on the radio I don't believe it because now there is so many different radio shows some are just for laughs and others are the truth but you never know when you are lissening to it you might get it mixed up and you might believe it and when its to late you find out that it is just a big lie. Just like how everyone in the artical was looking for the young boy named Jimmy that turned out to be fake.
I was not surprised that it tuned out to be fake because it was hard to beleive that a child only 8 years of age would be a heroin addict, I know it is not inpossible but an 8 year old child would have never started using heroin unless someone helped them to and who in the right mind would give a child heroin.

Journal #3
"50 ways to think like a child" writen by Susan Taylor Brown is a great example of what we could do for the Kids korner. It bring's children and adults together by taking them back to when they were young. It could help us think like the kids we intervew so we can relate to what they are saying. Most of the things that are listed in the "50 ways to think like a child" some of us would already do like Babysit or Eat an ice cream cone. Most of us that are up to the age 15 still have some kid still in them unless they are one of those stuck up people that think that eating an ice cream cone or finger panting is for little kids. Well what this site said was that every one needs a little bit of a child in them or they would go insane.

Journal Entry #2
I used the video “funny bloopers” because the video shows all the different angles that you use with a camera, far away shots, close up, and shots in between. In this video you don’t here many people talking throughout, but when it does it is not very clear but that is because there is a song playing during the video. The song that the picked was very appropriate for the mood of the video. But I believe that the video could have been named better, I find that it is more upsetting than funny.
*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBZqp98836I
The Kids Korner could use a lot of videos. Kids love watching themselves and I think that it would be more fun for both us and the students to make the videos. And when kids tell there own wild stories themselves then it sounds better, their sweet little kid voice and their expression on their face just makes the story and you just cant get that in just what we write.

What should we do to jazz up our school online newspaper?
I believe we should….
1. Put more color
2. Maybe some home made cartoon strips
3. Peoples choice, for music and have the songs on the web page for other people to check them out.
4. More pictures, of the dances, sports, drama, etc…
5. A better layout.
6. Links to educational games
7. Just make it more interesting.

Journal Entry Reflection Entry #1 – First Newspapers
The first newspaper is so much different that the newspaper we have today. The old newspaper had a different color, style, layout, and topics.
The color would have been more of a yellow color than the grayish color we have today. The style would have fit to what the people would have liked back than and same with today they have to use the style that people would enjoy. The layout would have fit their needs for that article and as everyone knows we have to do about the same thing with our newspaper today we have to use a layout that fits each article. And the topics they would have talked about different things, unlike today they talk about births, deaths, wedding vows, etc…
A big difference is that during that time they didn’t put pictures o9n the newspaper. I don’t know why but they didn’t, but today’s newspaper there are many different pictures in full color. But the biggest difference is that today you can find the newspaper on the internet, where back then the computer wasn’t even thought of yet.
